EMBLEM & EXPLANATION

EXPLANATION

To Be Broken and Given (Mt 26: 26): These words that resonate the deep meaning of the Eucharistic Words of Institution form the motto of my Episcopal Ministry. The reflection on these words reminds me of the obligation to be a shepherd who is ready to be broken and given. Only by being ready to be broken and given I can bring Christ to the world.

The Bible, the source of revelation and instrument of redemption, reminds me of the primary duty of a bishop, i.e., the proclamation of the Word of God.

The Bread Broken symbolizes the Eucharistic Lord who teaches and strengthens me everyday to break and give myself for the people of God.

The Rays around the Broken Bread symbolize the communion of all those who share from the divine life-giving Bread, i.e., the Mystical Body of Christ, the Church. My pastoral ministry becomes meaningful, only by building up a participatory Church (1Cor 12: 12-26).

The Outpouring of the Holy Spirit (Lk 24:32) on the Bread and the Word symbolically exposes the Emmaus experience (Lk 24:35) of the Apostles. The ultimate end of the Episcopal ministry is to make the people realize the presence of Christ in their midst by breaking the Bread and the Word.

The 12 Stars symbolize the Blessed Mother (Rev 12:1), the Queen of the Apostles and the Patroness of the Archdiocese of Trichur, to whose mediation my Episcopal ministry is entrusted.
